The Materials Handling division of Straight plc has been awarded a major contract by FKI Logistex - part of FKI plc - to provide specialist handling containers for the new British Library facility, shortly to be built in Boston Spa, West Yorkshire.
The new building, to be constructed by Allenbuild, will provide capacity for 7 million items from the UK national collection. FKI Logistex will design and supply an automated storage and retrieval system for the facility and this will use a bespoke container solution designed and supplied by Straight.
Straight has worked closely, as a subcontractor, with FKI Logistex and its client over the past months in order to create this unique product to work with the specialist load handling equipment to be installed in the British Library building. Production of the containers will commence early in 2007.
